Granular pavement layers

GSB & WMM road base construction

Granular Sub-Base (GSB) and Wet Mix Macadam (WMM) distribute loads and provide the stable, well-drained platform required below bituminous or concrete surfacing.

  • Approved aggregate grading
  • Controlled layer thickness
  • Moisture and compaction control
  • Camber, cross-fall and level checks

Execution approach

Typical work sequence

The final method, layer thicknesses, materials and inspection points are aligned with the approved drawings, specifications and actual site conditions.

01

Prepared formation

Confirm the approved subgrade is stable, trimmed and free of soft spots.

02

GSB placement

Spread the granular sub-base to the planned profile and thickness.

03

WMM laying

Place the wet-mix layer with controlled moisture and segregation control.

04

Compaction and checks

Compact, check density and levels, and release the layer for the next activity.
